The Pumpkin King, Bitches
Saturday, October 18th, 2008I’m a TV Star
Thursday, April 24th, 2008Or at least the back of my head is. I’m in there, front and center, right behind Paul’s stalkergroupie (lnor) and her mom.
Things I learned at this taping:
Tool!
Monday, November 19th, 2007We’re going to go see Tool in Las Vegas next month. Also Bjork the following day. One show for me, one show for her. It’s like they planned that weekend just for us. It’ll be fantastic!
So this morning, do we listen to Tool? Bjork? Oh no. Boyz 2 Men christmas music, that’s what I get subjected to.

Red wine and nachos
Saturday, November 17th, 2007Go together like :
- Anchovies and licorice.
- Onions and coffee
- Olives and marmalade
Other than that, Suzanne Vega at the coachhouse was a good show!

Honorary Gadget Girl
Friday, September 28th, 2007My girlfriend calls me gadget boy. She has earned the right to be called honorary gadget girl. She has more things plugged in next to the bed than I do, and she fixed my car’s nav system once. I told her she can’t drop the “honorary” until she can read email from anywhere. What kind of gadget person can’t even get email at the beach in 2007? Come on! It hurts just thinking about it.
Then she came across these. Purchasing one of those will also earn her her place as a full fledged gadget girl.

I will keep you posted as to her status.
It’s trying to speak
Monday, September 24th, 2007We saw Muse Friday night at Irvine Meadows (it’s called something else now, but screw that, it’s Irvine Meadows). It was a fantastic show. The more I think about it the more I think it was the best show I’ve ever been to. I love Absolution and the new one has been growing on me steadily, but they always sounded like studio songs to me, I didn’t expect them to work so well live despite people saying they’re a good live band. I was so wrong. Everything they played sounded better live than the recorded versions, often a lot better. I was blown away. They are clearly a live act first and foremost.
They’re apparently out of the U.S. for the rest of this year, but if you ever get a chance to see them, don’t stop to think about it, GO.
Los Angeles Needs a Revolution
Sunday, November 26th, 2006There, now that my blog is flagged by homeland security, this post is actually about Wired All Wrong, a new industrial/pop/electronic band. I first heard their song Lost Angeles on Indie 103 I think about two months ago, but I couldn’t figure out who it was. This post’s title is a line from the song. I’ve heard it a couple of times since, but still didn’t know who it was. I just knew I loved it. Indie’s automated song history didn’t list it the time I looked. Google turned up nothing for “Los Angeles Needs a Revolution”. Very frustrating! But I thought about that song again today, and tried the search again, and it finally turned up a hit. “Wired All Wrong,” I said, that sounds familiar. I looked in iTunes… and what do you know, Nothing At All by Wired All Wrong was this week’s free iTunes download, and I already downloaded it but hadn’t listened. An actual good free download for once, go get it! (Still free if you read this before Tuesday) Lost Angeles was the song I was actually looking for.
